This year’s World Ag Expo kicked off with thousands of attendees and ended with a rare deluge of February rainfall. As always, our Irrigation Sales Manager Sam Baldivia was in attendance throughout the three-day event, representing Fruit Growers Supply’s irrigation department while maintaining important relationships with vendors and customers.

“I think it’s important to be there, show support for our customers, and let them know we’re here to help them out,” he says several days after the event. “The same goes for our vendors. We’re there for them, too, and we can bounce ideas off each other. We had customers from all over the world who showed up at the expo, and it was great to see them.”

Many of those face-to-face interactions occurred not only at the FGS booth, but also at the company’s first-annual tailgate lunch. Co-hosted by Fruit Growers and Bowsmith, the event took place on Wednesday in the RV parking lot. “It was great!” Baldivia recalls. “We served 120 meals. In the past, we hosted a BBQ party, which was just for us and vendors. This time, we invited the customers, too. For our first time doing something like this, it was amazing.”

Heavy precipitation on Thursday brought the farm show to a rain-soaked close. “Some of the people were closing out early, because we had two inches of rain and things were getting flooded out,” Baldivia explains. As a longtime irrigation expert, though, he couldn’t resist the opportunity to educate any lingering customers about the benefits of wet weather.

“Rain is perfect water for irrigation,” he says. “The PH level is 5.6, and whenever we do anything in ag irrigation, we try to mimic rainwater. It’s free water! Rain is a good thing.”
