Good morning!  As you can see… I have successfully escaped the clutches of the pirates that had been holding me captive!  Life on the farm has returned to the normal, quiet ebb and flow once more.  What a whirlwind week we had with the grands.

So many great memories were made!

And what great helpers they have all become.  Everyone loves scooping poop!

I also had a day with the biggest of them all… Tyler.  I can hardly believe he is just a few days shy of his 14th birthday.  What a wonderful young man he has become.

We took delivery of our final load of hay.  The barn is stocked for another winter (or two).

We’ve been having some unusual weather this past week.  Until yesterday, it had been cooler than is typical for this time of year – especially the nights.  Several of them dipped down into the 40’s.

I’m not complaining, though.  Cool mornings are so much easier on the animals.  The insects don’t bother them when it is that cool out, so grazing is pleasurable.

It’s warming up, now, however, and so are the nights – slowly.  There’s nothing better for sleeping, to me, than cool nights.  The dogs would agree.

The garden is exceptionally dry right now – requiring a good watering every other day.

Apparently, puppies need frequent watering as well!

As soon as the hose turns on, the teeth start gnashing!

The first zinnias and sunflowers have emerged.

Delicate lisianthus – to cut and bring in the house.

Here’s a peek at what is growing right now…

Sugar peas (closest box), kale and chard (next box), Garlic (next), Onions (last)

Beans and squash.

Peas (also sugar peas… which we are eating daily)

Peppers, hot and sweet – some of the hot peppers are ready to pick already!

The herb boxes are overflowing.

This summer’s garden is the best yet.

Perhaps I should do a video garden tour?
